Luger contacted us to make a better mobile app for their biggest music festival Way Out West. Many of us at Schimpanz have been going to the festival for years and already loved it so we where thrilled of the idea of us being a part of making the festival even better. After a lot of thinking and discussion with Luger we decided that the main thing had to be to make the mobile app as useful as possible before and during the festival but we also wanted it to live a little bit longer than just that short period of time.

The main feature we developed was the schedule that we did both in the mobile app and on the web page. We wanted it to be easy for the user to share their own schedule with their friends both from the web site and from the mobile app. This way you could easily see which friends that was going to the same concerts as you and try to hook up with them. To make hooking up even easier we added a friend finder in the mobile app. This made it possible to see where your friends were located if you lost them.

Stay Out West is the club part of Way Out West. One day before the real festival and during the nights of the festival many clubs in Gothenburg offer more concerts. Since almost 30 000 visited the festival this year, one big problem was that the most popular club concert would be very crowded. Our solution to making it easier to know if it was worth going to the different clubs was having one representative from Luger outside each club. They reported frequently how many people that where in the club and how long the cue was. This made it possible to choose another club if the one you were supposed to go to was full.

 The mobile app was downloaded 24 000 times.
